I’m Willow, real name Marjolein, and this is my way of telling the world a little bit about the weird thoughts my mind produces. I’m a wannabe writer, half a nerd (I think they call that ‘geek’), enthusiastic, a perfectionist and a gamer. I love watching people and finding out what makes them do the things they do. I strive to be honest and straightforward, but nobody’s perfect I’m afraid.
Interests
- Everything to do with computers. Like most nerds, I drool in front of the Apple Store, I run Linux, I fiddle with programs that were never meant to work properly (and then I get them to work). I’m just not a coder, and I never will be. Rather than not being able to code, I just don’t have anything specific to code.
- Everything to do with literature. I read all the time. Mostly I read sci-fi, fantasy (Forgotten Realms) and 18th/19th century novels. Since I unintentionally became sort of an expert at women writers and feminism in literature, I know a lot about for instance Woolf, Austen, the Brontë sisters, Behn, Lady Mary Wortley Montague, etc. My favourite writer is from a different era though: Iain Banks. He writes both science fiction and very exciting thrillers.
- Writing. I write columns on this blog, I review books for Recensieweb and I’m attempting to write a book of my own. I aim to be a writer, more than a reader.
- Socializing, getting to know people, having fun and drinks in a nice cafe, having a laughing fit about the most silly and/or dirty joke, that kind of stuff.
