Almost got my BA
30-06-2006 – 00:49So just an update about what I’m doing and why I’m not posting so much at the moment.
I’m writing my BA Thesis, and the topic is quite intricate. I might be able to explain. It’s about Virginia Woolf who blames Charlotte Brontë for putting too many personal grievances in Jane Eyre (making it a book about the writer instead of the protagonist), whereas she doesn’t blame Jane Austen for doing the very same thing in Pride and Prejudice, and now I am blaming Virginia Woolf, not only for her inconsistency in her argument, but also for putting her own personal problems in her novel Mrs. Dalloway, for instance. Do you still follow? It wrecks my mind right now, but I feel it could be brilliant.
Something tells me the word ‘blame’ will be in the title.
Oh, and women whine too much about feminism, I have to put that somewhere in my thesis.
I also handed in the application for the MA I want to do: ICT en Vertalen (ICT and Translation). This means that my speciality will become translation, from English to Dutch. I hope I’ll be accepted…
Then there’s a test I still need to do, a Middleages subject I horribly failed last time. That probably has to happen some time next week. Getting a grade would be nice, for the last 5 points. I also found out one of the subjects I did wasn’t in the ECTS system yet, so no points were registered. Luckily I found the essay between all the papers I still had, and I can now have the study advisor hand in the grade *phew* … that really saved my schoolyear.
Things are moving very slowly, not nearly as easy as they did before, because for some reason I don’t get to work properly. However, I’ll get there this time. And I want a 9, just like rainman/xinit/lotjuh. So boo-yah!
