Army of Björk
14-07-2007 – 14:17Of the two concerts in the world I desperately needed to see, I saw the second one last Sunday. Björk was finally coming to visit our country for a gorgeous open air concert. I can remember having checked for concerts ever since I became a fan, which is so long ago I can’t even remember it properly. I think I was in the last grade of high school, or maybe the one before that.
My introduction with Björk is too odd for anyone to believe (and no, you don’t have to), but here it goes: I’ve had a song in my mind ever since I was about six years old, and at times it would keep playing in my mind, and drive me quite nuts. Then, one fateful day, I turned on MTV and heard my song being sung by Björk. What I had in my mind was part of a song called Jóga, from the album Homogenic. When I was done being positively overwhelmed and weirded out, I borrowed the CD from the library, taped it over and played the tape about a million times. Björk’s music takes some getting used to, they say, but I didn’t have any issues with that.
Back then, I also decided I had to see at least one concert of hers. Last Sunday I went there with Faragon, and it was brilliant! I was amazed how she played just about all my favourites. She started with the new single Earth Intruders, then went on with about 6 songs from Homogenic (still my favourite album), including Jóga, Hunter and that weird techno-like song called Pluto, and she also performed I Miss You and Army Of Me. Björk was wearing a long and wide gown in pink and white, and had some ornaments on her head. She had also brought a small orchestra with horns. She really rocked the Westerpark that evening, and I hope she’ll come back some time. I’ll definitely be there again!
Here are two of the pretties I mentioned: Jóga and Pluto.

I saw here at Werchter, 2 weeks ago. Amazing show! She even uses Reactable (http://mtg.upf.edu/reactable/)! Really got goosebumps when Hyperballad started..

I thought I saw something resembling the Reactable on the tft’s, but I wasn’t sure if it was real or just part of the visual special-fx… seems she really incorporates it into the tour… very nice. I really liked the performance, just wished it lasted a bit longer, I had expected at least another 30 minutes.
