My resume of gaming

02-02-2007 – 18:32

For my current study I have to do an internship, and I think I found a cool company to go to! Last week I sent an email to U-TRAX, a company that translates everything to do with games, but I received no response. I started wondering why and found two answers: first, my email was still adjusted to the application I made for another company so it still said ’subtitling’ somewhere in the email (should’ve double-checked that >.< ), and second, I should have emailed them a list of games I played along with my resume. I found out about the latter first, so I went and wrote me a list, which is quite impressive for a girl like me with only about 5 real years of computery experience. Then, halfway through my list, I was called by a lady from U-TRAX. She wanted to know if I knew at all that it was a games-translating job, and happily I could rectify the subtitling mistake and tell her I was working on the list. I mailed the list just now and we'll talk more next week :)

I hope I get this internship, I think I will love it there!

Oh btw, the list of games I came up with in a short time:

NES:

• Mario 1, 2, and 3
• Zelda
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 and 3

Nintendo 64:

• Mario 64

• Rayman 2: The Great Escape
• Donkey Kong 64
• Diddy Kong Racing

PC:

• Tetris, Arkanoid, PacMan, Space Invaders, Prince of Persia etc. (the classics)
• Mortal Kombat
• Claw
• Final Fantasy VII and VIII
• American McGee’s Alice
• Lucasarts games: Monkey Island 1 to 3, Sam & Max, Full Throttle

• GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas
• Rayman 1 and Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc
• Prince of Persia: Sands of Time

Pfoo I wasted a lot of time ^^

  3. This isn’t a job, it’s an internship. I have to do this to earn credits for my study. That said, in the end I do want a job in translation, so it might be that this internship is going to help me get there. With Nedstat I have agreed that I will work there until my internship, and after it I’ll come back again. Since the internship is no longer than 3 months, that shouldn’t be too horrible :)
